So, I traveled back in time to the days of my youth, when in the mid to late 80's this book was all the rage because of the forbidden and taboo nature of the story and every girl was reading it with a brown paperbag over the cover.
I never read it then, but I probably should of because my inner tween would of loved this book more than my almost 30 year old self. Here are all the reasons why my adult self thought this book was only ok:
1. It wasn't as psychologically horrific as I had hoped it would be.
2. The plot was very formulaic. I was able to figure out the twists and tuns before they actually happend.
3. The story line was just plain sad.
In conclusion, I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't and if this is considered her best one, I have no interest in reading the rest. Sorry.
