And now GONE GIRL
all have unreliable narrators. The only difference between the first two books and GONE GIRL is that the narrators have become a little more reliably unreliable and a whole lot nastier. We've all become more cynical in this post-modernism world, so we expect our narrators to be more complex and in this tome both Nick and Amy Dunne, deliver the goods.
It's a story full of malevolence - not to mention duplicity, delusion, and even derangement. In reading the novel, complete with plot surprises, these two have become unforgettable characters that use humor to counter the blackness; bleakness of what's really going on.
Gillian Flynn has made these tricksy first person characters both intriguing and entertaining. This is definitely a book that will stick in your craw long after you finish the last page.
